Fees
PERSONAL INJURY AND MALPRACTICE Fees are generally a portion of the settlement/judgment plus expenses. As is standard with most all personal injury cases, the fee is one-third of the net recovery, with all expenses taken out first. So if your settlement is $100,000.00 and expenses are $25,000.00, the expenses are deducted first leaving a recovery of $75,000.00. The attorneys fee is one third of that figure or $25,000.00, leaving a total of $50,000.00 net to you. To properly represent you will advance all necessary expenses. Fees and expenses are expenditures which are necessary to properly represent you. For example, when we retain a doctor to review medical records or testify at a deposition or trial, he must be paid. We pay fees for court stenographers, filings, service of process, non-local travel and most photocopying. At the conclusion of your case, when we receive settlement proceeds, we are then reimbursed for all fees and expenses previously advanced.
CRIMINAL CASES The fee is due and payable at the beginning of the case, except in certain circumstances where a client qualifies for a payment plan. The amount of the fee varies depending on the type of case, the amount time anticipated to be expended and whether it goes to trial or is disposed of beforehand. Fees are discussed in the initial consultation and a written retainer is executed. Visa/Mastercard are accepted. |
